Who We Are

We are a “watch first —meet later” group, and if you love cinema and lively discussion, this may be the group for you!

How It Works

A theme and movie title will be announced at the beginning of every month. The selected film will be available for checkout at the BPL, and we will hold a film screening before the discussion. The discussion group will meet at the end of each month to replay some pivotal scenes from the film, followed by a discussion and analysis. Dates and times of the screening and discussions will be announced each month. Discussion questions for the movie will also be available as a PDF to view or print off, providing group members with talking points and things to consider while watching the movie.

Anyone interested in joining the discussion should watch the movie and register for the group on the Billings Library Calendar.

The film has been lauded for being the first by a major Hollywood studio in nearly 30 years to feature a majority cast of Chinese descent in a modern setting. The film grossed $174.5 million in the United States and Canada and received many accolades including a 2019 Critics Choice Award and a 2019 Teen Choice Award.
