Books to Movie: "Under the Blood-Red Sun"

Tuesday, October 15, 2019

On October 15th at 7:00 pm, Billings Public Library will be teaming up with the Art House Cinema and Pub and the Friends of Billings Public Library to bring you a special program that brings together our love of both books and cinema. The program will be held at the Art House. Come to the Library to receive copies of two unique books that depict the life of children in the WW2 Japanese internment camps: Under the Blood-Red Sun by Graham Salisbury and They Called Us Enemy by George Takei (while supplies last). Read the books, and then attend a screening of the 2014 film adaptation of Under the Blood-Red Sun, co-sponsored by the Art House! A brief discussion will follow the film screening. The books and film have been chosen as part of the Library’s Year of Multicultural Literacy, to continue the discussion begun at our September 2019 Civil Conversation on Japanese Internment.” The Library has a limited number of the books to give out, but all are welcome at the screening!
