Learn about local government in Billings

Curious about how your local government works? The League of Women Voters of Billings and Billings Public Library present a series of three educational events and a social event to discuss the machinations of Billings government. Each event is from 5:30-7:30 pm.

July 11 -  How do we pay for everything and who decides? City budget, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and discussion on One Big Sky funding

July 17 -  What are the rules? The planning process, Project Re:Code (overhaul of existing zoning codes), and the city/county interaction

July 24 -  How can I have a voice? Various ways citizens can get involved without running for office: City Council meetings, public hearings, task forces, and citizen advisory boards.

SOCIAL EVENT: July 31 - Let's Talk About Getting Involved in Local Government  LOCATION:  This House of Books, 224 North Broadway, downtown Billings Social hour with attendees, local government officials and citizen volunteers.  Sign up for ways to learn more, such as the Billings Citizen Police Academy and League of Women Voter observers at city and county meetings.
