How to Use These Indexes
In any of the index files, look up the name or subject you are interested in. Make a note of the date and name of the newspaper for that name or subject. Then go either to the online archives that have that newspaper and date, or to the microfilm files at the Library, and look up that newspaper in the archive or on the microfilm. In either format, you can print the article out, or save it to a USB drive, or email it to yourself for attaching to your genealogy files.
Vital Statistics Index
Vital statistics, including births, deaths, marriages, divorces, voter registrations, and others, from early Billings Gazettes, listed alphabetically by last name. Together, the files list over 13,000 names from 1882-1902 listed in local newspapers, including the Billings Gazette, Billings Post, and Billings Herald.
