Computer and internet Related Policies
Use of any library computer or internet station constitutes agreement to comply with this entire policy.
Compliance with Policies Is Required
Patrons are required to comply with both the letter and spirit of all these policies. Violations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Violations may result in restriction or revocation of a Patron’s internet and / or other Library privileges.
Social Media Policy
Billings Public Library utilizes social media to communicate, inform, and engage with our community. Posts to library social media outlets may include program and service promotions, general updates, photos of events, various informational content and more. The library maintains accounts on the following social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Library staff monitor these accounts during open business hours and utilize an automated messaging system when the library is closed.
Billings Public Library will occasionally share content from and interact with outside groups and individuals on social media such as: library related accounts and partners, City of Billings informational and department updates, non-profits, local community groups, authors, and publishers. The library will only promote events and services that are free and open to the public. Any content shared by the public in the form of comments, images or other media on any BPL social media outlet may be utilized by the library in future publications, displays, or promotions.
Any content or comments expressed on any BPL social media platform by the public does not necessarily reflect the views or positions of the library or the City of Billings. Any content that that is inappropriate, harassing, or otherwise deemed unacceptable by library staff, will be removed. Repeated violations may result in the account in question being blocked or banned from posting on library social media platforms.
